1 Day Intro to Sewing: Ready, Set, Sew!

Time: Start 10.00 - Finish 16.00 For real beginners, meet your sewing tools and how to use them. Sewing machines, steam irons, fabrics, patterns and everything else you need to start building your essential skillset and get sewing. The studio at Folk+Fiber is the perfect setting to learn the art of sewing in a cozy setting with a small group of learners led by a professional seamstress. This intensive, one day introduction takes the mystique out of beginning to create your own vision. You will learn the basics of preparing your fabrics, reading patterns, laying out and cutting, operating a sewing machine, the importance of pressing and using other essential tools. You’ll take home confidence and inspiration to explore other projects. Please note: A minimum of 4 students is needed to proceed this workshop, there will be plenty of options to reschedule if needed. Included in Ready, Set, Sew!; fabric / thread / sewing & overlock machines / ironing station / coffee + herbal tea / lunch + snacks / basic tools such as measuring tools. Bring your own: sewing pins / fabric scissors (available in store) and sewing kit if if you have one.
